Fastnet Challenge 3-12th September 10

The Rolex Fastnet Race is one of the world’s most demanding offshore races. For many it is the ultimate test for both the crew and the boat due to unpredictable weather and challenging tidal decisions.

This is your opportunity to sail the Fastnet course on board a 67ft Challenge yacht involved as an integral member of the sailing team, on a quality boat that is highly proven. Our experienced skipper will ensure the team is cohesive and everyone is able to learn. A willingness to be involved and form part of the team are the only fundamental requirements.

Remember, this is not the actual Rolex Fastnet Race we will be doing. It is a fun yet challenging sail.

The challenging 750 mile course takes you out of the Solent, past the Needles, and along the South Coast of England, past the many headlands where tricky tidal gates and large wind shadows from the land make for interesting sailing. It is a turn to Starboard as you reach Lands End and head out across the Irish Sea for the Fastnet Rock. Anyone’s first rounding of the Fastnet Rock is always an unforgettable experience.

After rounding the rock we will make our way to Kinsale for a well deserved pint of Guinness and a good night’s sleep before heading back across the Irish Sea and into the English Channel. Time permitting we will have another night stop on the South Coast, or the Channel Islands depending on the wind conditions.

Draft Itinerary

3rd September 18.00Join the yacht in Ocean Village - Safety briefings and depart for Yarmouth

4th September 07.00 Depart Yarmouth and set sail for your Fastnet Challenge

6th September pm Arrive Kinsale, Ireland

7th September 09.00 Depart Kinsale. Night stop on our way back to southampton

10th September 17.00 Arrive Ocean Village, Southampton

Price per person:£695 plus VAT

Included:

  • Wet weather gear
  • Lifejackets
  • All meals, soft drinks, bottled water onboard the yacht for the duration.
  • Mooring Fees
  • Fuel and use of all safety equipment

Excluded:

  • Any drinks and meals ashore are not included.
